Capture 2009

2008 has been a most wonderful and eventful year!  I am excited to see what happens in 2009, and also what we make happen this new year.  As a professional personal history consultant, the importance of capturing every precious moment in our lives is obviously important to me.  However, people often times get so caught up in things that to take a picture or a short family video just takes too much time.  I have some suggestions to make this year more “capturable.” Here are a few:

  • Plan.  If you are going to attend a special event or gathering, pack your camera, extra batteries, and make sure your memory card has plenty of space available.
  • Make sure your camera’s date and time is set properly.  You will then have the times and dates for when you look at the pictures again.
  • When you arrive, get your camera out and make sure it is ready.  You never know when or what will happen.
  • Take pictures of things you are familiar with, too.  Those are the things that we will remember.  Sure, it is important to get the unusual and unique, but most likely the things you will remember the most are things you have seen the most.

I hope that some of these things help you on your way to “capturing” the new year.  With the invent of the digital camera, we can take as many pictures as we want, and never have to worry about film again!  For those of you who are die-hard film lovers, take some extra film…
